The accounting and consulting company Blum Shapiro is opening a downtown Worcester workplace to help the company expand throughout Central and Western Massachusetts.

The 5,000-rectangular-foot workplace inside the Mercantile Center at Hundred Front St. Will encompasses as many as 25 workers when it opens on Oct. 1.

Blum Shapiro has other places of work in Boston, Newton, Quincy and Cranston, R.I., Marlborough, Shelton, and West Hartford, Conn. It has more than 450 personnel, supplying auditing, accounting, tax, and business advisory and outsourcing offerings.

Blum Shapiro involves Worcester with ties to the metropolis. Brian Renstrom, a Massachusetts managing accomplice, is a Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduate in control and mechanical engineering. Renstrom said the company is worked up to be part of the Worcester network.

Also, this spring, the Boston engineering company Howard Stein Hudson has opened a downtown Worcester workplace within the Guaranty Building at 370 Main St. The organization’s projects have included a fundamental college in Milford and safety improvements in Worcester’s Tatnuck Square.

The Engineering Corp., an engineering and construction management company in Andover and Hampton, N.H., has opened a workplace at 311 Main St.
